4 Strategic Actions teachers can take to aid students in succeeding academically- Four ways to encourage Student Academic performance in the classroom.
It is a joy for every good teacher to see their students succeed academically. Yet, it is inevitable that not all students will get an excellent result because while some might improve in their studies, some may improve in other cognitive aspects of learning. Some may improve in the behavioral part of learning.
But the teacher must help all students, significantly underperforming in their studies improve. Although this won’t come easy, it’s worth the effort.
In this article, I will discuss 4 Strategic Actions to encourage and improve students’ academic performance.
1. Inspire the students to learn by providing a supportive community.
Support every Student to feel included in the classroom and school. Make sure no student is left aback due to their poor academic performance.
To lower the school dropout rate among kids from culturally diverse backgrounds, it is beneficial to increase students’ feelings of belonging at school (i.e., being liked, accepted, supported, included, respected, and encouraged to participate in school) classroom activities).
2. Get the students to take their assignments seriously.
Educate the students on the importance of taking assignments and that going through the assignment alone will help them retain the knowledge over a long time.
Also, as a teacher, you must review the assignments and make corrections. It’s not ideal to give an assignment without doing the revisions. It is in the modifications that the students see and learn from their mistakes. Doing this over and over will help the students succeed academically.
3. Provide a better learning environment.
A better learning environment is an environment that is beyond Chalk and blackboard, which is a more physical and interactive environment. Taking learning beyond the classroom is another way to foster understanding in students.
Teaching aids like graphs, charts, videos, puzzles, etc., are perfect for helping the students learn better.

4. Set high expectations for every Student.
A teacher should underestimate no student. Irrespective of a student’s academic performance, set high expectations for all of them. Setting a higher standard/expectations will encourage students to put in their extra effort whether or not you’re present. The objective is to foster a culture of resilience and confidence in the classroom and help the students succeed academically.
An Extra Tip, Praise and commend students interested in improving their academics. In addition to encouraging students to give themselves praise, teachers can praise any aspect of the learning process, whether it be behavioral or intellectual. That entails compassionately correcting even incorrect responses.
Instead of downplaying the provided response, A teacher can accomplish this by carefully applauding every Student’s attempt.
In Conclusion
While every good teacher strives to get the best from their students, the increasing workloads make these efforts appear fruitless.
However, Teachers will better equip students to succeed academically if teachers can inspire the students to learn, get the students to take assignments seriously, provide a better learning environment and Set high expectations for the students.
